After scrambling for candy-filled eggs at our neighborhood Easter party on Saturday, we decided the kids could do without more sugar, so we hid eggs with clues in them to lead each of the kids to a "practical" Easter present. Jake and Tanner had a great time searching the house for eggs, then Jake put his new reading skills to use by unscrambling sentences to figure out where to look for the hidden presents. Faith's clues led the kids to our bathroom where she found a swimsuit from us, a princess towel from Auntie Sue, and a riding truck from Grandma Mary. The boys' clues led them to their own beds where they discovered street hockey sticks from Grandma Mary, towels from Auntie Sue, and shoes from us. Jake got cleats for the upcoming T-ball season and since Tanner has a major shoe fetish, he got some pretty cool Vans with Spiderman on them which he immediately put on and has yet to take off.
Tanner was terrified of the Easter Bunny. He paid a surprise visit at the party on Saturday and he wouldn't go anywhere near him. The rest of the weekend he kept repeating, "Bunny no get me! Bunny no get me!". Jake announced on Easter Eve that he knew the Easter Bunny wasn't real- "it's just a guy in a suit that hops around to houses".
Luckily my prediction of a hockey stick injury within a day of receiving them was unfounded. Although now the pitch back machine that was in our living room has been replaced with a hockey goal.
Hope everyone had a happy Easter Sunday!
